When I went to meet my GP, I bumped into young women who were homeless with a dog. They looked really messed up. One of them had , thankfully, a black dog with her. When I came out of the doctor's office, hubby told me he found the same girl with a dog, intoxicated, and bought her cheese and a box of croissant and dog treats. She was, by then, sleeping in a cubby hole, sorta of protected from the heavy rain today. Her face was completely red and she was petite. I can just imagine the horrors of her life, rapes by everyone including cops (they are a pestilence for homeless women), vulnerabilty, epxosed to all the elements, not enough food, no shelter etc. This is Canada but we have many drug addicts and a real problem of homelessness here: welfare is not high enough to cover rent in BC. I will pray for these young ladies today.
